Alliance of Associations Polish Green Network brings together non-governmental organisations working for environmental and climate protection and the development of civil society. It conducts nationwide and international social campaigns, participates in the creation and monitoring of public policies, develops intersectoral cooperation. The main areas of PGN activities are: supporting the energy-climate transition in Poland, development of civic energy (in particular energy communities and communities – More than Energy campaign), fair transformation of mining regions and monitoring of EU funds in terms of environmental and climate impact and public participation.
For the past 11 years, PGN has been actively supporting the non-governmental community in its efforts to move away from coal and towards an energy and climate transition. Key to this are the networking activities and regular facilitation of cooperation between more than 30 NGOs and informal groups. An important aspect of this area is the consultation, implementation and adaptation of EU climate policy – the European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 package – through education and advocacy activities and developing public acceptance of the climate agenda.
The More Than Energy social movement animated by PGN has been joined by more than 150 institutional partners, including local governments, scientific institutions, entrepreneurs, industry organisations and NGOs. Thanks to the involvement of activists and experts associated with the More than Energy movement, favourable regulations were introduced into legislation, resulting in a prosumer photovoltaics boom in Poland in 2019 – 2021.
Thanks to the organisational grant, PGN will, among other things, create a new management structure and strengthen the competences of the growing team, develop new membership rules and organise a series of networking workshops for member organisations. The renovation of the Warsaw office will create additional space for collaboration with numerous partners.
