In Legionowo (Mazowieckie province) individuals aged 60+ account for 25% of all inhabitants. During the pandemic many elderly people were excluded from social life due to poor digital skills. We are convinced that only systemic activities developed along with stakeholders can permanently and effectively include seniors of both sexes in the city life.
We will address these problems by developing the Strategy for Legionowo Activities Targeted at Senior Citizens Aged 60+ for 2022-2026. We will provide seniors from our town with digital skill training. Together we will analyse Legionowo initiatives for elderly people taken up so far and will conduct a study diagnosing the needs of this group. We will survey 500 individuals aged 60+ to find out what functions well and what should work better in our town. We will organise 3 virtual diagnostic walks to gather seniors’ opinions on various urban spaces. We will organise three virtual consultation cafés to let elderly people talk about their experience and ideas. Based on these activities, we will formulate conclusions and recommendations that will serve as the basis for a Strategy prepared by experts. We will consult its draft with seniors and will submit the final version to the Legionowo authorities that have declared to pass it in the form of a resolution.
