The Anti-Discrimination Education Society brings together people involved in anti-discrimination education (hereafter: AE) in Poland: it develops their competences, builds AE standards and works towards introducing AE into the formal education system. The organisation’s activities are aimed at teachers, educators and activists who want to develop their competence in AE or start conducting it. Priority is given to those representing minorities and those from outside large cities. AES popularises methods of working with groups to counter and respond to prejudice, discrimination and intergroup violence. It teaches teachers how to ensure that every child at school feels safe and free from discrimination. It carries out advocacy for the presence of equality issues and NGO expertise in schools. The organisation’s achievements include the formulation and introduction of a definition of AE for use by equality organisations and educators, the conduct of the only research on the presence of AE in the formal education system in Poland (in 2011, 2015 and 2016), and the establishment of the Coalition for AE in 2009, bringing together around 60 organisations from across Poland. AES belongs to the Network of Community Organisations for Education, where it is responsible for anti-discrimination topics. The 2 Social Facilitation Schools for Anti-Discrimination and 3 courses on EA run by AES have been attended by 65 people, with about 3,000 people participating in other educational forms. TEA targets its educational activities to multiply the ideas of AE – each trained person conducts multiplication classes for at least 10 people. Thanks to the institutional grant, AES plans, among other things, to form a partnership with a university and jointly develop a postgraduate programme related to AE, to conduct a study on the impact of AES (what and to what extent/how the organisation’s activities impact) to plan activities for the coming years, to develop fundraising.
