According to our research, the knowledge of cultural heritage of the region is vanishing in our Pelnik village (Warmińsko-Mazurskie province). Migrants are not familiar with the traditions of the place they have come to, while historic places in Pelnik are falling into ruin. Only under half of respondents know if Pelnik is located in Warmia or in Mazury.
To address this challenge, we will engage 30 villagers in activities aiming at broadening their knowledge about our village. We will organise intragenerational groups that will engage in activities aiming at promoting local tradition. Together we will renovate an old village chapel, and create a Memorial Room there, we will revitalise the cemetery and stage a puppet show incorporating a local legend into it. We will wrap the project up with a picnic for villagers, including a fashion show presenting folk outfits from the Warmia and Mazury region.
We will engage the Łukta commune in the venture – local authorities will help us create info boards and will give us access to the chapel and the cemetery.
