On 5-6 September, representatives of Polish civil society organisations and their partners from five countries (Greece, Iceland, Norway, Ukraine, Hungary) met in Warsaw for a workshop on foreign cooperation.

We are pleased to announce the results of the call for applications for a study visit to the Utøya Learning Centre in Norway. Out of seventy applications, we have selected twelve organisations whose representatives will attend a workshop on the Norwegian island in June this year.

Come to five days of training in dialogue facilitation according to the methodology developed by the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue (Nansen Fredssenter) in Norway, which is based on openness towards others and respect for differences.

We would like to invite representatives of civil society organisations working on counter-radicalisation, dialogue across divides and local/social memory and commemoration to participate in a study visit to Norway.

On 1 March 2024, representatives of social organisations met in Warsaw as part of the MANGO pre-definition project. They discussed whether and how organisations can prepare for an uncertain future.

We have now completed the process of assessment of applications submitted in the Stronger Voice call under the Active Citizens Fund – National programme. By decision of the Programme Committee – following the recommendation of the Selection Committee – we awarded 21 grants for a total of 192,604 EUR.

On 20 November, we celebrated International Children’s Rights Day, and in Wrocław, in the space of Passage of Dialogue, a networking meeting for organisations carrying out activities for small local communities, including those with and for the benefit of children was held. During these meeitn Project Promoters networked, exchanged experiences, knowledge and good practices, as well as analysed the needs of their organisations in supporting local communities. 

On 18 and 19 September in Warsaw took plane an international meeting of representatives of organisations that deal with deliberative processes for involving citizens in decision-making. 

In the last week of May 2023, at the invitation of the Academy of Civic Organizations Foundation (FAOO), 29 experts in fundraising and capacity building of organisations from Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, the UK and Germany came to Warsaw

We publish anti-discrimination and anti-bullying policy for organisations benefiting from the support of the Active Citizens Fund – National Programme. 

We have completed the evaluation of applications in the Media for Democracy competition under the Active Citizens Fund – National. By decision of the Programme Committee – in accordance with the recommendation of the Selection Committee – grants for a total amount of EUR 807,165 are awarded to 6 organizations.

We have now completed the process of assessment of applications submitted in the call for organisational grants. From 48 submitted applications, 22 were awarded grants and 2 are on the reserve list. The total amount of subsidies granted is 2,168,835.00 €.

Consortium of the Shipyard Foundation, Stefan Batory Foundation and the Academia of Civic Organisations Foundation launches the call for proposals Media for democracy, which is a part of the Active Citizens Fund – National. The grants which will be distributed under this call will be funded from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.

The grant budget of the call is 2 226 000 EUR.

From 65 projects approved for the detailed project submission stage, the Programme Committee decided to award grants to 6 projects. The total amount of subsidies granted is over EUR 800 000.

1588 project outlines were submitted in the second call for thematic projects, which is 271 more than in the first call! Most of the applications, of which there were 810, were submitted for activities for civic participation in public life and social activities, 206 were submitted for defending human rights and promoting equality, and 572 were submitted for empowerment of vulnerable groups. The deadline for submitting applications was 11 January 2021.

We have now completed the process of assessment of applications submitted in the call for sectoral projects. We received 60 detailed projects, and 32 Applicants will receive Programme Committee decisions. There is one application on the reserve list. The total grants awarded will come to almost EUR 4.2 m, to go towards activities supporting the civic sector in Poland.

The second call for thematic projects is underway! Foundations, associations, social cooperatives, rural housewife circles, and other organisations can apply for co-financing. Grants will be awarded for activities in three areas, which are active citizenship, human rights and equal treatment, and  empowerment of vulnerable groups. We await project outlines until 11 of January 2021. The amount designated for grants for the second call is almost 10,5 million of EUR.

On 1 September 2020, an agreement was signed with the Financial Mechanism Office in Brussels for implementation of the Active Citizens Fund – Regional programme, with a budget of EUR 23 million.

Out of 388 project outlines assessed in terms of content, 60 applications, awarded a minimum score of 13 points, were accepted for stage II. The total amount of grants sought in these applications was 154% of the amount envisaged for allocation for sectoral projects.

Before drawing up a detailed project proposal for the call for thematic projects, we recommend viewing the webinars and using the tools, which cover subjects such as finances, promotion, communication, and how to fill in the application in the system. All of the videos are provided with a translation into Polish sign language.

We have completed the administrative assessment of applications in the call for sectoral projects. We will now present the results, and will refer the applications to experts for content-related assessment.

We have provided an instructional video (provided with a translation into Polish sign language) and a manual to guide you step by step through the Online Application System, and explain how to submit a detailed project application in a call for thematic projects.

The call for sectoral projects in the Active Citizens Fund – National Programme has just been closed. 395 project proposals were submitted.

Out of 1308 project outlines found eligible for content-related assessment, 385 were accepted for stage II. In accordance with the rules of the call for projects, the projects awarded the highest scores, with a combined budget of 150% of the value of the allocated funds, were accepted for the detailed project stage.

The call documentation  has been updated due to the announcement that the required contribution obligation has been lifted.

Due to the effect the COVID-19 epidemic is having on the activities of social organizations, the FMO in Brussels has agreed to lift the required contribution obligation for thematic and sectoral projects financed in the Programme. The envisaged activities can be financed 100% using the grant awarded in the Programme.

We have prepared two webinars and an online workshop to assist Applicants taking part in the call for sectoral projects.

The call for sectoral project proposals is underway. We await project outlines between 6 May and 30 June. Grants will be awarded for projects to support the civic sector, such as infrastructure funding (training, awareness-raising, consultancy), measures to increase public awareness about what organizations do, or for instance monitoring laws that affect their activities.

What can civil society organizations from Poland learn from entities from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway? What can be interesting in cooperation with Polish organizations for Donor-States? Where is it best to look for project partners? What to remember before starting cooperation with them? We discussed all these issues at the webinar devoted to bilateral cooperation, which took place on 28th February.

We are looking for experts to evaluate applications relating to thematic projects (areas for which funding is available, 1 – 3). Recruitment will last until 10 February 2020 and applications can only be submitted using the online recruitment system.

A new grant programme was launched on 8 January in Warsaw at a conference attended by representatives of the Polish Foreign Ministry and the Norwegian Embassy, and social organisations from Poland and donor states. The aim of the programme is to strengthen and develop the civic society and active citizenship, and empower vulnerable groups.

Representatives of social organisations are invited to attend the conference launching the Active Citizens Fund – National programme, which will be held in Warsaw on 8 January 2020 at the “Dreamers and Craftsmen” House of Social Innovation, ul. Bracka 25, and on 9 January 2020 – in the Jerzy Turowicz conference room at the offices of the Stefan Batory Foundation, ul. Sapieżyńska 10a.

At the beginning of 2019, we completed the step in which comments and ideas for the Active Citizens Fund – National programme are collected in an online questionnaire.

Consultations are currently being held on the form that the Active Citizens Fund – National programme will take in Poland. This is an appropriate time to recall the activities that organisations from across Poland have performed, and activities they have performed under the Citizens for Democracy programme.
