We are pleased to announce the results of the call for applications for a study visit to the Utøya Learning Centre in Norway. Out of seventy applications, we have selected twelve organisations whose representatives will attend a workshop on the Norwegian island in June this year.

Come to five days of training in dialogue facilitation according to the methodology developed by the Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue (Nansen Fredssenter) in Norway, which is based on openness towards others and respect for differences.

They live in Sztum, Bochnia, and Warsaw. They work, pay taxes, and bring up their children. Outside working hours, they fight for equality, to counter discrimination in government authorities, for openness in schools, and for kids like themselves not to have to constantly flee to the capital.

Surveys have shown that Poland is the least friendly place for LGBT+ people to live in the entire European Union. Below are three stories of people who are trying to change that.

We would like to invite representatives of civil society organisations working on counter-radicalisation, dialogue across divides and local/social memory and commemoration to participate in a study visit to Norway.

There is silence, for example, on the other end of the line, somewhere in between phrases like: “Is this the right number?”, “Can I take up some of your time?”, “I don’t really know why I’m calling…”.

Silence can also choke you, for example during therapy, when you have to think back to events that took place a year ago, too terrifying to put into words. Even if the words can be found, silence ensures that they do not find their way out.

Fathers who go on parental leave say that it is the best decision that they could have made – say the women who founded the Share the Care Foundation – surveys prove that this makes a relationship more stable, reduces the divorce and separation rate, and is highly beneficial for the emotional and cognitive development of children. At the same time, it helps women pursue a career and gives them equal opportunities to compete with men on the job market.

Often, young people who are homeless are invisible. They wear fashionable clothes, the girls have make-up on, and are constantly on the phone. An increasing number of them have a home, and even have their own room, but their parents are unable to deal with them. This is truly horrifying, because it reveals the grave state of the family in Poland – says Agnieszka Sikora of the Secondly Foundation.

 

On 1 March 2024, representatives of social organisations met in Warsaw as part of the MANGO pre-definition project. They discussed whether and how organisations can prepare for an uncertain future.

We have now completed the process of assessment of applications submitted in the Stronger Voice call under the Active Citizens Fund – National programme. By decision of the Programme Committee – following the recommendation of the Selection Committee – we awarded 21 grants for a total of 192,604 EUR

On 20 November, we celebrated International Children’s Rights Day, and in Wrocław, in the space of Passage of Dialogue, a networking meeting for organisations carrying out activities for small local communities, including those with and for the benefit of children was held. During these meeitn Project Promoters networked, exchanged experiences, knowledge and good practices, as well as analysed the needs of their organisations in supporting local communities. 

13- 15 November 2023, more than 100 people from 11 countries met in Warsaw to discuss and exchange experiences of working with and for refugees. 

On 18 and 19 September in Warsaw took plane an international meeting of representatives of organisations that deal with deliberative processes for involving citizens in decision-making. 

On 15 June, we celebrated World Elderly Rights Day. We celebrated this occasion in Cracow, where we held our programme Senior Lab (14-15 June). Grantees working with and for senior citizens networked, exchanged experiences and analysed the needs of their organisations in supporting older people. 

In the last week of May 2023, at the invitation of the Academy of Civic Organizations Foundation (FAOO), 29 experts in fundraising and capacity building of organisations from Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, the UK and Germany came to Warsaw 

You are invited to participate in the international initiative “Voice&Vote – let’s rise above public consultation”, organised by the Shipyard Foundation, dedicated to learning about deliberative methods in participatory processes.

On 10 and 11 May, Project Promoters from all thematic areas met in Pruszków for a workshop on the ethical side of functioning of the organization.

We publish anti-discrimination and anti-bullying policy for organisations benefiting from the support of the Active Citizens Fund – National Programme. 

The call offers social organisations the opportunity to obtain funding for the implementation of international initiatives for the exchange of knowledge and experience. The competition is organised by the Operators of the two Active Citizens Funds: the National and the Regional.

In December 2022, we hosted a group of Norwegian young people from Sykkylven videregående skole in Krakow. Together with active young people from Poland, the Norwegians took part in intercultural workshops and a history lesson.
